School Information

Our School

Ballapousta National School is a Catholic co-educational primary school, under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Armagh, Cardinal Sean Brady, situated approximately 5km south of Ardee, 1.5 km west of the N2, in south County Louth. A school was first establised in Ballapousta in 1823.

There are 221 children enrolled in the school with a staff of 8 class teachers, Principal, a Learning Support teacher, a shared Resource teacher and two Special Needs Assistants. The Principal of the school is Mr. Ciaran Conlan and Mrs. Colette Green is the Deputy Principal.

Parents Association

Ballapousta National School has a strong and very hard-working Parents' Association. In the past the committee hosted 'Who Wants to be a Thousandaire?' as a fund raiser and raised almost €40,000. Mrs. Amanda Lane is Chair of the Parents' Association. In conjunction with the teaching staff upgrading ICT is our focus for 2008-2009.

Future Plans
The Department of Education and Science has approved an extension/refurb of the school to extend the school to 12 classrooms, larger PE hall, offices, staff-rooms, 2 SET rooms, library and storage space. We are waiting for the Principal Officer of the Planning and Building Section, DES, to make a decision on the technical report. In the current economic climate it will be a long wait.
