Ballapousta National School Mission Statement
Ballapousta NS is a Catholic Co-educational Primary school under the Patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Armagh. Ballapousta NS is a Roman Catholic school, established in connection with the Minister for Education and Science which aims at promoting the full and harmonious development of all aspects of the child as a person; intellectual, physical, cultural moral, and spiritual, including a loving relationship with God and other people.
Our school models and promotes a philosophy of life inspired by the belief in God and in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Catholic school provides religious education for the pupils in accordance with the doctrines, practices and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church and promotes the formation of the pupils in the Catholic Faith. We use the Alive-O series for our religious education.
We accept pupils from other faiths where it is the wish of their parents/guardians to educate the children in a Roman Catholic school.
The Board of Management will encourage the involvement of parents through home-school contacts and their active involvement in the parents' association. Parent-Teacher meetings are held once a year in accordance with DES recommendations, while informal meetings take place by appointment only. An Introduction meeting is held in May/June for the parents of newly enrolled children.
The Board of Management of Ballapousta NS will strive to promote, individually and collectively the professional, personal and spiritual development of the teaching and ancillary staff of the school.
Ballapousta NS will endeavour to enhance the self-esteem of all the children and teachers of the school and all those in our school community, to imbue in the children a respect for people, the environment, property and to encourage in them the idea of becoming responsible individuals who will strive to make our school community a better place for all.
Ballapousta NS promotes gender and racial equality in all its dealings with children, teachers, parents and the wider school community.
Déanaimid tréan iarracht Gaeilge a labhairt comh minic agus is féidir. Tá sé mar aidhm again an Ghaeilge a athbheochan mar teanga cumarsáide sa scoil.
Ballapousta NS operates a code of positive behaviour for learning which encourages all children to do their best to achieve their potential in all aspects of their academic and personal education. All forms of acceptable behaviour are encouraged and rewarded. The highest standards of behaviour are expected at all times. Bullying is not acceptable
